Recently, our local Councillor, George Darouze, received a large influx of concerns related to both speeding and general mischief. However, Councillors are legally prohibited from directing police operations, which is noted on the Ottawa Police Board website. Therefore, city officials cannot ask police to monitor a particular area to target violations.

Ottawa Police Services have noted they follow an Evidence Based Policing model which means that one of their main deployment strategies is based on reports made by witnesses, since these can help track the day, time of day and frequency of the violations and best determine when to deploy officers to the area.

Currently our Ward has some of the fewest reports throughout the City, therefore residents are strongly encouraged to file reports and include as many details as possible.

Food Cupboard Opens in Greely to tackle Food Insecurity

The Greely Convenience Store has opened a food cupboard outside their store to help address food insecurity in our community. We were pleased to join other supporters at the opening and to applaud Gurpreet Singh, the owner of Greely Convenience Store, his family, residents Randy and Michele Bonanno-Salmon and Feed Canada Association for bringing this initiative to life. The cupboard, located at 1341 Meadow Dr, is open 24 hours and anyone can donate or take food as needed.
